CAMP CLEARWATER CARDBOARD BOAT RACE
August 7, 2021 – 11:00 am
Open to Clearwater Customers and the General Public
Join us on the beach area behind the Camp Clearwater Arcade for our Annual Cardboard Boat Race
Greg Rowles from Alabama Theatre will emcee the event this year and then preform right after the race
RULES:
Your boat can be as large or as small as you want and your crew can be as many brave sailors as you can get, you are only limited by your imagination and the following rules!
1. Boat design, construction & rules.
a. Boats must be made BEFORE THE RACE
b. Boats must be made of ONLY cardboard and duct tape. Cardboard boxes, cardboard blocks & cardboard tubes are allowed.
c. Paint may be used only to decorate your boat, not to reinforce or seal seams.
d. All boats must be propelled by the use of paddle and/or hands.
e. No surfboard style designs are allowed.
f. Each person must provide & wear a PFD (personal flotation device).
g. During competition the crew must be in the boat, no pulling, swimming or towing.
h. During race, no intentional ramming other boats or striking with paddles.
i. No alcohol is allowed in the event area.
j. There will be 2 classes, Youth (10-17) Adult (18+)
2. Judging & Awards
a. Best in Race Award – Awarded to the team (in each class) who completes the race first with their boat completely intact.
b. The Show Boat Award – Awarded to the team (in each class) with the most creative and “showy” boat entered in the race.
c. The Titanic Award – Awarded to the team (in each class) that sinks in the most spectacular fashion.
