Ribbon Cutting: Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM)

Monday, October 17, 2022 (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Elizabethtown Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Ribbon-cutting Ceremony on Monday, October 17 at noon for the Bladen County office of the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM). WARM’s mission, according to Suzanne Jalot, Communications Director for WARM, is to repair, rebuild, and make homes accessible; and to inspire service, generosity, and hope. “Our repairs help families stay in the homes they have spent years, perhaps decades, paying for on their own,” Jalot said, adding that the repairs to critical systems, removal of mold and other contaminants, and accessibility upgrades can improve respiratory health and reduce the risk of falls in the home. Homeowners who qualify do not pay anything for the repairs. WARM has a skilled construction staff to supervise a rebuild; but rely on volunteers to get the job done. WARM believes that a safe home provides young people a stable environment to learn and dream, gives families a sense of pride in their neighborhood, and offers older adults on fixed incomes the chance to age in place. The Chamber is encouraging people to stop to by learn more about WARM’s services. WARM is located in Bladen’s Bloomin’s Small Business Incubator at 207 East Broad Street, Elizabethtown. The incubator is home to several other businesses including the Chamber of Commerce, Bladen Journal, Habitat for Humanity, and other organizations.
