MEMBERS GET A SNAPSHOT OF THE LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL ECONOMY AT JULY MEETING
|
UNCW Professor of Economics, Mouhcine Guetabbi, spoke to a group of 40 members about the state of the economy pre- and post- pandemic. He reported that the number of jobs is significantly up post-pandemic and the number one concern of businesses is employee retention. He also said that while we are not in a recession like 2007-08, cracks are starting to show. Thank to Burney’s Sweets & More for providing a great breakfast.

The fourth session of the Leadership Bladen program was held on Thursday, July 28. The focus was on local government and included a visit to Harmony Hall to learn about the grants and funding needed to restore the National Historic Landmark site. The participants visited the Bladen County Administration office, Bladenboro Town Hall and Elizabethtown Town Hall to better understand local government structure and finances. They also had a chance to learn about ethics from local elected officials. Leadership Bladen is a joint program of Bladen’s Bloomin’, Bladen County Community College, Bladen County School District, and the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
