A new guide containing activities and sites to see throughout the area has been produced by the Elizabethtown – White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and is now available in several locations.

According to the Chamber’s Executive Director, Terri Dennison, the guide is meant to provide information for residents and to attract new visitors to the area. The booklet features listings on outdoor recreation and historical sites as well as a directory of businesses that are members in the Chamber. Besides being available locally, copies are being distributed by the ten North Carolina Welcome Centers.

JULY MEMBER BREAKFAST MEETING: WHAT'S UP WITH THE ECONOMY

 

Join us for breakfast at the July Chamber Member Meeting on Tuesday, July 19 at 8AM at the Cape Fear Farmers Market. Our guest speaker will be Mouhcine Guettabi, Associate Professor of Economics for the Cameron School of Business at UNCW. 

Mouhcine Guettabi joined the University of North Carolina Wilmington in August 2021. He is serving as both an Associate professor as well as the area’s regional economist. He regularly monitors the areas economic indicators and produces economic analysis and forecasts. Cost is $10 per person. Please click through to register.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP PLAN OUR CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES AND WORK ON OUR TOURISM PROMOTION PLAN

 

It's only July but we are all ready planning for Christmas and next year's tourism season! 

 

Two committees will meet this month to begin planning their associated tasks. Both committees are open to any members who would like to participate.

 

The Christmas Committee plans and promotes all the activities within the 30 Days of Bladen County Christmas: including the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting, the 4 Saturdays of Christmas at the Farmers Market, Lighting of the Lake at White Lake as well as promoting any Christmas event held by a member.  The first meeting will be Thursday, July 14 at 4pm via ZOOM.

The Tourism Promotion Committee plans the promotional campaigns to attract visitors and travelers to Elizabethtown, White Lake and all of Bladen County. It includes the outdoor recreation market through the Mother Nature's Playground campaign as well as considering the meeting/convention, wedding/venue, group, and day trip drive markets. This committee plans activities connect to Visit NC and Coast Host programs. This committee will meet on Thursday, July 21 at 8:30AM via Zoom.

ELIZABETHTOWN TO HOST PORK & BEATS IN NOVEMBER

 

The Pork & Beats Festival is returning after a 2 year hiatus. Scheduled for November 4 & 5 at the Cape Fear Farmer's Market, this event features a whole hog cooking competition, BBQ sauce competition, BBQ plate sales, car show, craft and food vendors and some great music. Blackwater and 87&Pine will be playing on the Smithfield Stage. Sponsorship forms, vendor forms and competitor applications are available on their website.
